IXcellerate, Russia’s premier carrier neutral data centre in Moscow, announced that it took part in the 5th Personal Data Protection Conference, held on the 5th of November at Renaissance Moscow Monarch Centre Hotel.

Organised annually by Roskomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and MassCommunications) the conference is one of this years the main industry events, addressing the topic of personal data that is becoming more eminent every year. The conference involved all of the concerned parties including representatives of the competent authorities and personal data operators to regular personal data subjects. This year the conference was particularly important, as the new law on personal data in Russia will emerge in 2016 and wide selection of areas needed to be examined.

Guy Willner, CEO of IXcellerate commented his participation in the event “As a representative of a foreign business operating in Russia, I found this event to be one of the most interesting and creditable this year. With the new law emerging very soon, Russia is making sure it is ready for it by understanding all of the concerns of the involved parties. The law will require personal data of Russian citizens to be stored within Russia, which means that many of the international players will have to start adapting now in order to be prepared and operate legally.”
