Antonina Priezzheva, Deputy Head of Roskomnadzor, has discussed the new law mandating the storage of personal data in Russia with the CEO of IXcellerate, Guy Willner

Representatives of Roskomnadzor, the Russian telecom supervision body, and Moscow’s leading independent data centre, IXcellerate, have discussed various aspects regarding the implementation of the new law with regards to the storage of personal data in Russia.

According to Guy Willner, CEO of IXcellerate, Law No. 242-FZ will improve the investment climate in the area of IT. The industry is already witnessing growth not only in the data centre market, but in all Internet-related businesses. “When it comes to data processing in Europe, Law No. 242-FZ is the only reason why many of our customers have decided to expand their business within Russia. Many are beginning to consider the benefits of opening local offices in the country” said Guy Willner.

Local data storage is a modern trend and a natural step in the evolution of the Internet. Other countries are beginning to study and emulate Russia’s approach to the issue.
