IXcellerate opens MOS3 data center

IXcellerate, leading commercial data center operator in Russia, announces the completion of construction and launch of the MOS3 data center with a total capacity of 2,400 rack spaces and 30 MW of power.

This is the fourth and final facility within the current boundaries of the Northern Campus, located in the Altufevo district of Moscow.

The data center is 100% ready for operation: 1,400 rack spaces are functioning, and another 1,000 have been contracted and will be delivered by January 2026. All racks have been reserved during the construction phase by both existing and new customers.

The MOS3 data center is designed to meet all Tier III and PCI DSS requirements and is ready to colocate clouds and complex solutions, including high performance servers. The average design load per rack is 8 kW, with the possibility of increase to 25 kW. Power is supplied through six 10 kV city inputs. The redundancy scheme is 2N at the rack level and 8/7 N at the diesel generator and UPS levels. Data center is concurrent maintainable. All services are guaranteed at the SLA 99.982%.

The new data center is located in a four-story building with an area of 7,367 m². It is a greenfield facility on the territory of the IXcellerate North Campus, built entirely from scratch. The building with six data halls was constructed in full compliance with Moscow city building codes (MGSN) on the site of a former brick factory: the former workshops were completely demolished to free up space for new construction.  All building materials are made in Russia, are environmentally friendly, comply with local standards, and provide fire resistance and resistance to various weather conditions, as well as protect the building from unauthorized entry and external threats (for example, 150 mm thick facade sandwich panels with a fire resistance rating of 150 minutes).

During MOS3 construction, the IXcellerate team used best engineering practices aimed at ensuring safety and security, as well as stable cooling in the data halls using a chiller-fan coil air conditioning system, thanks to which the data center operates year-round in free cooling mode. To improve energy efficiency, the system additionally uses 12 precision air conditioners with liquid-cooled condensers and dry coolers, which organize the utilization of excess heat for heating administrative areas. The solution allows for the rational use of thermal energy and reduces costs. The average annual power usage effectiveness (PUE) of MOS3 at full load is less than 1.3.

MOS3 is included in the IXcellerate unified telecommunications transport system, allowing its customers to connect to any of 50 cloud and telecom service provider partners, as well as to the Eurasia Peering and MSK-IX peering platforms.
