Orange Business Services and IXcellerate sign a long-term strategic partnership agreement

March 1, 2016. Moscow. Orange Business Services, international service-provider, expands its DC network in Russia: the company has signed a strategically important contract with IXcellerate, a leading Russian data center. Under the 10-year contract, Orange will install at IXcellerate’s Moscow One datacenter over 300 racks in over 600 sq. meters of space. The scale of the project makes it one of the most important within the Russian DC market.

Orange Business Services is actively investing in their Russian business. In 2014-15 the company modernized its backbone and access networks in 17 Russian cities. In 2015 Orange deployed its Flexible Computing Advanced Cloud Platform within IXcellerate’s data center. The 10-year contract with IXcellerate is the next step of the Investment Program.

With this new contract Orange Business Services will deploy a Connectivity Hub at IXcellerate’s Moscow One site. A dedicated space will be provided for Orange’s technological equipment and customer systems. Planning to deliver various services, leveraging IXcellerate’s data center, Orange Business Services will focus on the following key domains:

  • security (comprehensive network perimeter defense, authentication as a service etc.);
  • unified communications;
  • cloud services;
  • managed mobility services.

Orange Business Services’ equipment will be installed step-by-step, on a modular basis, eventually occupying over half of the new 490-rack data hall commissioned in July 2015 by IXcellerate.

Over 10 months ago, Orange Business Services invited selected companies to tender for this project. The service provider put forward traditionally high requirements for its DC infrastructure, resiliency, certification and technical support. IXcellerate Moscow One won the tender proving itself to be the most appropriate data center for Orange stringent requirements. Moscow One is one of three1 fully certified data centers in the country to have passed independent audits in design, construction and operational management. In 2015 IXcellerate Moscow One was awarded the best DC 2in Russia for its comprehensive cooling and power supply solution.

«Orange Business Services is strongly committed to its development in Russia, so we have made a strategic decision to expand our DC network», said Richard Van Wageningen, CEO, Orange Business Services in Russia and the CIS. «We have worked with IXcellerate for quite a long time and may pursue investment projects together. We will continue to develop new services in our portfolio based on IXcellerate DC network, continuously raising the quality of service for our customers».

Guy Willner, co-founder and CEO of IXcellerate, said: «We always deliver what we promise to our customers, regardless of the region, client, contract volume or task set before us. The new agreement confirms that our global strategy, aimed at maximum customer satisfaction and 100% financial transparency, is correct. We highly appreciate this proof of trust from our partner, Orange Business Services, and we thank them for the unique opportunity to display our best capabilities working on a large-scale project while contributing to the development of the Russia DC market».
